So our first foray into 3D animation in Maya was the well-known bouncing balls and then the Luxo Jr lamp from Pixar's famous first short. We are being taught by Erik Schmidt.
First we did a standard bouncing ball.
Then 3 balls of different volumes.
And lastly a short scene with a ball in a room.
Next up was Luxo Jr. We started out with an FK rig and did a short jump cycle.
And for the last Luxo assignment we used an IK rig and did a little hop, stop and take.
We also did a very rushed little assignment that involved taking a piece of music and animating bouncing balls to the beat. I forgot to playblast mine until the last second so it is sadly way out of synch with the music.
